See every use of a root, then read what it means
Before deciding what a word means, Taaweel finds everywhere it occurs. The concordance covers the full corpus, groups the occurrences by how the word is used, and sets the lexicon entries beside them.
What it does
A root-and-string concordance over all 6,236 verses is the foundation. For a question about, say, a pair of terms, Taaweel separates occurrences into patterns: verses where both terms appear together, verses that continue a pairing from the verses just before, and verses where a term stands alone.
Each pattern gets a profile of its characteristic neighbouring roots. These profiles show, in the text's own vocabulary, how the same word behaves differently in different settings, which is exactly the evidence a translation choice should answer to.
Counting is deterministic
The numbers in the concordance and the clustering are computed by code over the corpus. The language model is used for interpretation stages, not for tallying.
- Root-level and string-level concordance are kept separate.
- Counts come from the corpus database, not from a language model.
- Distinctive roots are computed with smoothed log-odds, so rare words do not dominate.

Common questions
Does it work with Arabic input?
Yes. Arabic is the working language of the search. The planned side-by-side view will show the Arabic reading of a finalised question so users writing in other languages can check it.
Can I look up a single word?
Yes. The lexicon and exploration views let you start from a word rather than a question.
Where do the lexicon entries come from?
Lane's Lexicon and classical dictionaries bundled with the corpus data.
